Presentation of the Nigel Coulter Memorial Shield to Ft Lt Margaret Irvine, Officer Commanding 817 (Lisburn) Squadron Air Training Corps on 27th January 2011,. by Hon.Branch Secretary Tony Baker, MBE., accompanied by Membership Secretary / Web Editor Leslie Smallman, of the Mid Ulster Branch of the NMBVA.

The shield is to be awarded annually,  ” For showing an outstanding contribution to 817 Squadron in the face of adversity or personal circumstance. This cadet has shown a commitment and a determination to succeed, a willingness to help both themselves and others around them and maintain a level of excellence with the Squadron and the Air Training Corps “. (Open to all cadets irrespective of rank or service length.)

This Award is in commemoration of the service of  our late Hon. Branch Secretary Nigel Coulter, who, having served 9 years in the RAF, worked loyally as a RAFA volunteer for his remaining years. His wife Pearl or a family member will present the award each year. A scroll certificate is also given to the winner for framing or addition to their curriculum vitae.
