The National Malaya & Borneo Veterans Association
Mid-Ulster Branch & Northern Ireland Branch
National Museum of Ireland
On Monday 13th June 2011, members of both NMBVA Branches visited the The National Museum of Ireland in Collins Barracks, Dublin, courtesy of Mr Lar Joye, Curator of Decorative Arts and History, who gave us all an extremely interesting and informative tour of military exhibits.
Everybody present was impressed with the very high standard and method of display together with, a broad range and number of artefacts to be seen. There is no doubt that this exhibition really does set benchmark standards as it is in fact very much world class.
After the tour our Chairman, Mr Ron Moore presented a NMBVA keris tie and lapel badge as a token of appreciation to Lar Joye, the Curator.
We recommend that if in Dublin, a visit to the Museum should be essential part of everyone’s itinery. We had a pleasant lunch in the restaurant and departed to Connolly Station via the Luas for a taste of Ireland’s premier, famous brew.
