Belfast City Hall visit
NMBVA, MSSNI, MyPNI and MSC QUB visit Belfast City Hall and Continental Market on Saturday 17th December 2011
The local NMBVA branches organised a private guided tour of Belfast City Hall for Malaysian Students in Northern Ireland, luckily on a day when the visiting Continental Market was in based Belfast.
Several years ago the City Hall had been completely refurbished and the results were a beautiful building open for all to visit. It is hoped that future tours will be organised dependent on demand and it really should be a must for Freshers attending the two local Universities.
NMBVA Christmas Dinner 2011
On Thursday 15th December 2011, both branches held a Christmas Dinner at the PSNI Country Club, Newforge, Belfast, with guests of honor Dr Raja Harun, his wife Rita, Mr Raja Roslan and Miss Sabariah Eni, all eminent personalities within the Malaysian community of Northern Ireland.
The evening went very well, with the convivial atmosphere being very palpable.
At the conclusion of the meal, Mr Graham Evans presented an Honorary Membership Certificate to Dr Raja Harun in recognition of his assistance to the two local branches.
Mr Ron Moore, Chairman of the Mid Ulster Branch expressed his thanks to all present, but particularly Graham Evans, who had put in much effort to organise the evening. There was much applause from the diners.
The obligatory raffle went well and we felt that it was good to return to normality, as last years dinner had been cancelled due to snowy conditions.

Dear All,
Sir, this photo was taken on the 25th March 2004 at Brigade Hq, Kuantan, Pahang.
I was then the Brigade Commander of South East Brigade, General Operations Force.
I started my career in this same Brigade as a Platoon Commander in August 1970.
Time flies and would never return… but memories of Infantry days will linger on till KINGDOM COME !
Could not wait the day when I will meet you all Sir !
Enjoy, Thank you

Graham Evans Chairman of the Northern Ireland Branch and Tony Baker,MBE., the Secretary of the Mid Ulster Branch were invited to speak to newly arrived students at Queen’s University, Belfast, to welcome them and extend the hand of friendship to the scholars.
A substantial number of students are sponsored by the Malaysian Government to undertake Masters Degrees and Doctorates at both QUB and the University of Ulster at Jordanstown.
A number of films were shown and talks given by the Student body and Dr Raja Harun who is an enthusiastic member of the Belfast Islamic Centre and has published eminent papers regarding horticultural subjects.
The atmosphere was extremely convivial, especially on the serving of delicious Malaysian makan. A real taste of the East and great memories flooded back.
Many positive links were formed and the next venue for the intrepid pair was QUB Diwali Festival day, which also went extremely well. So things are looking quite positive and they intend to follow through in bonding the local NMBVA with the Malaysian population in Northern Ireland.
