Pictures be they of old times or of recent years always bring back the memories of the events that were with it.
The picture above was taken in the month of November 2003. It was taken at the Federal Police Headquarters Senior Officer Mess at Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur. The occasion was the official handing over of Hari Raya Eid Fitri Cookies by The Inspector General of Police for the Officers and men who will be on duties in the Forward locations such as The General Operations Force, Marine Police, Air Wing and those in the remote ares.
This photograph is of 4 of 5 Brigade Commanders of The General Operations Force, Royal Malaysian Police with the Director of The Department of Internal Security and Public Order (IS/PO), Commissioner of Police Dato Mohd Sedek Ali. He was later made the Deputy Inspector General of Police and made a Tan Sri and retired in 2005.
Sad that i was about 5 minutes behind him when he met with an accident at a location about 2 miles from his/my house in Kajang. I remembered that it was raining quite heavily all through that dat when he lost control of his Mercedes Benz that fateful evening and was hit by another car from the left side. He broke a leg and hit his head against the door window. He was unconscious for 40 days and succumbed from the brain injuries. I remember attending his Final Funeral Prayers at his house on that Friday he was buried.
He was never even once obnoxious or unpleasant to me since the day I first met him in the month of January 1981 when he was posted to The Police College in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor. I was there attending The Inspecors’ Command Course then and he was a Lecturer. I remembered that he had just came back from The United Kingdom after doing his Masters Degree. I remembered too that he got his Acting rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Police in January 1981 and we were witness to that ceremony. For me i just came to know that i was promoted to an Assistant Superintendent of Police that day.
Sorry for the above… but I suddenly thought of HIM as i scroll my pictures memo…
MAY SEDEK BE BLESSED BY HIS GOD… AMEN.

Several years ago the City Hall had been completely refurbished and the results were a beautiful building open for all to visit. It is hoped that future tours will be organised dependent on demand and it really should be a must for Freshers attending the two local Universities.
NMBVA Christmas Dinner 2011
On Thursday 15th December 2011, both branches held a Christmas Dinner at the PSNI Country Club, Newforge, Belfast, with guests of honor Dr Raja Harun, his wife Rita, Mr Raja Roslan and Miss Sabariah Eni, all eminent personalities within the Malaysian community of Northern Ireland.
The evening went very well, with the convivial atmosphere being very palpable.
At the conclusion of the meal, Mr Graham Evans presented an Honorary Membership Certificate to Dr Raja Harun in recognition of his assistance to the two local branches.
Mr Ron Moore, Chairman of the Mid Ulster Branch expressed his thanks to all present, but particularly Graham Evans, who had put in much effort to organise the evening. There was much applause from the diners.
The obligatory raffle went well and we felt that it was good to return to normality, as last years dinner had been cancelled due to snowy conditions.

NMBVA address Queen’s University Belfast, Malaysian Students at Freshers’ Day, Saturday 15th October 2011
Graham Evans Chairman of the Northern Ireland Branch and Tony Baker,MBE., the Secretary of the Mid Ulster Branch were invited to speak to newly arrived students at Queen’s University, Belfast, to welcome them and extend the hand of friendship to the scholars.
A substantial number of students are sponsored by the Malaysian Government to undertake Masters Degrees and Doctorates at both QUB and the University of Ulster at Jordanstown.
A number of films were shown and talks given by the Student body and Dr Raja Harun who is an enthusiastic member of the Belfast Islamic Centre and has published eminent papers regarding horticultural subjects.
The atmosphere was extremely convivial, especially on the serving of delicious Malaysian makan. A real taste of the East and great memories flooded back.
Many positive links were formed and the next venue for the intrepid pair was QUB Diwali Festival day, which also went extremely well. So things are looking quite positive and they intend to follow through in bonding the local NMBVA with the Malaysian population in Northern Ireland.
