The annual Northern Ireland Branch of the National Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association (NMBVA) Pantridge ceremony was held on the 3rd of October at the Island Mill Civic Centre Lisburn.
The event was organised by the Ireland Branch of the NMBVA and hosted by Lisburn City Council. The Branch was joined by the Mid Ulster NMBVA, 253 Medical Regiment, Sea, Army and Air Cadets as well two retired Gurkha Soldiers.
A Piper and Bugler from the R Irish provided Pipe and Bugle support and Jonathan Arnold was the musical accompanist.
The principal guest was Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for County Antrim, Mrs Joan Christie OBE DL, the Council was represented by the Mayor and the Chief Executive. Other guests included the Assistant Commander 38(Irish) Brigade, Mrs Brenda Hale MLA, representative 253 Medical Regiment and Mr Stephen McManus.
At 1050 Hrs the Veterans, Medical Regiment Personnel, Cadets and Branch Standards marched onto the area of the Pantridge Memorial under the watchful eye the R Irish Drum Sgt Major. At 1100 Hrs a short Service of Remembrance was conducted by the Padre of 253 Medical Regiment. During the Service Wreaths were placed by our President, Mrs Joan Christie OBE, DL, The Mayor and the Assistant Brigade Commander.
Following the Service a group photo was taken before all participants and guests partook of a lovely Lunch provided by Lisburn Council.
